What is a CAAM Part-66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML)?

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia issues the CAAM Part-66 AML, which allows the holder to issue a certificate of release to service upon completion of a maintenance task performed on a Malaysian registered aircraft. The certificate of release to service is issued when the signatory is satisfied that the work has been carried out properly and accurately, with due regard for the use of: 

  • Current training and approved airworthiness data
  • Tooling and testing equipment recommendations
  • Working environment that is appropriate for the work being done.
  • Malaysian AML are issued in accordance with the current International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards, which can be found in Annex 1.

CAAM Part 66 Standards

The passing mark for each CAAM Part-66 exam is 75% for multiple-choice and 75% for essays. Within 7 years, candidates must pass all CAAM Part-66 exam in the respective Aircraft Maintenance Licence category. The 5-year time limit, however, did not apply to modules common to more than one CAAM Part-66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence category/sub-category and were previously passed as part of another such category/sub-category examination.
