About the Course
Category B2 AML for engineers or AMEL, as defined under regulation 31 of CAR 1996, shall permit the licensed aircraft engineer Malaysia to issue certificates following maintenance on avionic and electrical systems. The certificates to be issued are certificates of release to service in respect of overhaul, inspection, repair, replacement, modification, and scheduled maintenance inspection so approved. Category B2 licensed aircraft engineer Malaysia holders must obtain CAAM Part-66 Category A AML to qualify for Category A certification privileges. We have been approved Center for CAAM Part 66 modules examination since 19 October 2015 with approval number ATO/2015/03. Following SPM or O-Level, you can pursue a Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance or a pre-university or foundation course leading to a degree.
CAAM Malaysia began work on a new and up-to-date Part 66 licensing system in 2011, incorporating all of the most recent ICAO requirements. With the publication of Airworthiness Notice 1101, all license issuance and renewals will be handled through this system. CAAM Malaysia now issues two types of licenses: ‘Category A’ (Aircraft Maintenance Technician), ‘Category B1’ (Aircraft Maintenance Engineer in Mechanical), and ‘Category B2’ (Aircraft Maintenance Engineer in Electrical) (Aircraft Maintenance Engineer in Avionics). An authorized person to ensure and certify that an aircraft is airworthy in accordance with local and international aviation standards is a licensed aircraft engineer.
As part of your licensed aircraft maintenance engineer studies, you will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to check aircraft systems and components, diagnose aircraft-related problems, and correct these issues. You will also gain knowledge of the legal requirements for commercial aircraft operation.
